Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter on Wednesday to the commemorative event observed for the International Day of Peace in Nanjing City, east China's Jiangsu Province. 

Peace has always been the universal expectation and ardent aspiration of human society, Xi said in the letter, adding that China loves peace and will always be the builder of world peace, the contributor to global development and the defender of the international order, especially when the security threats the world is facing today are becoming more and more complex and the threat of war is always lingering.

Xi emphasized that the celebration, which is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, has become an important platform for all parties to promote security cooperation and to unite international peace forces.

He also hoped that the attendees will come together and build consensus to play an active role in promoting and building a community with a shared future for the mankind.

At the end of his letter, Xi wished the celebration for International Day of Peace a great success.
