Applying the regulations on the Communist Party of China's (CPC) work related to political and legal affairs is important to promote a combination of law-based governance of the country and rule-based governance over the Party.

The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee made the statement on Thursday as it reviewed the regulations at a meeting.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

The statement also pointed out that the Party's leadership is consistent with socialist rule of law. 

Only through the law-based governance of China and insisting on the rule of law, both under the leadership of the Party, "can we ensure that the people fully act as masters of the country," it stressed.

The meeting emphasized that the CPC has always advocated that judicial authorities ensure the independent and impartial exercise of the judicial and procuratorial power. 

It called on Party organizations and officials at all levels to support the work of political-legal departments in accordance with constitutional law independently and cooperatively.
