Four things to watch at this year’s big data expo

The China International Big Data Expo kicked off on Saturday in Guiyang, southwest China's “big data valley,” attracting more than 50,000 participants at home and abroad.
Under the theme of "Data Creates Value, Innovation Drives Future," this year's expo will last for 4 days, and include one e-commerce summit, one big data industry exhibition, one AI global final competition and several sub-forums.
Here are some things we can expect to see at this year’s expo.

1. Top ten black technologies

A list of the top ten black technologies will be revealed at the achievement display section. The section will also showcase the supercomputing power and technical application results of the 500-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) and other cutting-edge technologies for the first time.

In addition, the latest big data application scenarios featuring the infrastructure constructions, urban services, and rural development are also going to make their debuts at the expo.

2. Don Tapscott and CEO dialogues

C-level managers from Apple, Google, Facebook, IBM, Tencent, Alibaba will gather together to give their voices and discuss the industry trends, such as AI, data security, sharing economy and the Internet of Things (IoT).

It’s worth noting that the father of the digital economy, Don Tapscott, is going to deliver a keynote speech at the forum, focusing on the future development of the blockchain.

3. AI global final competition

The AI global competition, which began on Jan. 19, aims to accelerate the development of AI technologies and ecosystems, will have its final on Friday.
Thousands of participants are expected to get funds for AI projects in IoT, cloud computing, smart manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and more from the platform supported by the Chinese government and big-name tech companies.

4. Big data valley series

During the expo, a series of events including a laser show, 3D water screen show, drone show and symphony performances that integrate elements of technology, art, local culture, and folk customs will present a wonderful visual experience for the audience.

The big data expo is considered as a calling card for Guiyang, changing the city from an unknown backwater to a fast growing region that has advantages in many areas, especially in cutting edge tech and innovation.
