An undersea pipeline started delivering fresh water from Chinese mainland's coastal province of Fujian to Kinmen, a small island of Taiwan, on Sunday morning.
The source of the water-diversion project is located at the Longhu Lake in Jinjiang City, the second largest lake of Fujian.
The 28-km pipeline is able to provide 34,000 cubic meters of water daily to meet the demands of Kinmen residents. The capacity can be expanded to 55,000 cubic meters in the future.
