One of the most disheartening moments caught on camera from the Indonesia tsunami was when a sudden wave slammed into the stage of Indonesian rock band Seventeen during the group's performance at Tanjung Lesung beach in west Java Saturday night. The incident reportedly killed at least four of the band's members and numerous people attending the event.

Two musicians and two crew members from the band – the bassist Bani, guitarist Herman, the road manager Oki Wijaya and crew member Ujang – have been confirmed dead, according to the band lead vocalist Riefian Fajarsyah's social media posts, and multiple reports.

Fajarsyah, seemingly the only known surviving musician from the band so far, posted a tearful video on Instagram on December 22, weeping and asking fans to pray for the dead and the missing – including his wife Dylan, and another bandmate Andi (the drummer).

Fajarsyah also recalled the terrifying scene of how he was swept out to sea, certain he too would die, before ultimately finding a floating box and using it to help swim to a nearby tree in the video, Billboard reported.

The group was reportedly hired by an Indonesian state utility firm Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to perform in front of its 200 employees and their loved ones at an end-of-the-year party when the wave struck.

Tributes from other Indonesian music celebrities, such as Tantri, vocalist of the band Kotak, have been pouring in for the band.

Seventeen was originally from Yogyakarta, a city on the island of Java, and well known on the Indonesian rock scene with several popular hits, according to the BBC.

The latest death toll from the tsunami that struck beaches around Sunda Strait in Indonesia on Saturday night has risen to 334, with 61 still missing, local authorities say.
