Consecutive days of rainfall have left Mount Wutai in north China’s Shanxi Province engulfed in a sea of clouds, presenting breathtakingly beautiful views.
Mount Wutai is one of the most famous Buddhist mountains in China. It has five peaks, with four sitting in four directions and one in the center.

The aerial view shows that the central peak, over 3,000 meters above sea level, is now under a sea of beautiful and thick clouds. As the clouds tumble through the sky, a single Buddhist archway sitting on the summit appears, which lead to a group of temples in the distance.
The green mountain top, white clouds and red temples together create a fantastic and surreal world seemingly located in the sky.

The temperatures on the peaks have dropped to around 10 degrees Celsius. The sea of clouds in Mount Wutai can last for hours after rainfall and sometimes can form only at around 100 meters above the ground. Local authorities have warned visitors to be cautious while touring the mountains.
