‍China once again recognized the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s efforts towards building a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula, while urging corresponding steps from the United States.
A series of positive moves to denuclearization have been made by the DPRK since 2018, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang.

DPRK leader Kim Jong Un announced in April 2018 that Pyongyang would stop nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles. According to Pyongyang's official KCNA, the northern nuclear test ground of the DPRK would also be "dismantled to transparently guarantee the discontinuance of the nuclear test."
The Chinese official also reiterated Beijing's stance, hoping to see Pyongyang and Washington meet each other halfway by taking corresponding measures.
"We also hope to see relevant parties continue to solve the Korean Peninusla issue through political dialogues," Lu said.
