Shanghai Masters came to an end with Djokovic winning the tournament for the fourth time. CGTN's Sports Scene spoke to the tournament director Michael Luevano, who shared his memories over the past 10 years and what this event meant for the development of tennis in China.
"It's been a spectacular nine years and this is our 10th year. This is something special to us. We had a dream many years ago and now we seem to have increased our stride. We have got great crowds, great weather and great tennis. The facilities here are at the highest level and it's amazing. So we are really pleased with this year's event," said Luevano.
"We are looking forward to 2019. But we couldn't be happier. This was a milestone for us."

Djokovic made a brilliant comeback this year, peaking with this trophy win, but this isn't the only great comeback the tournament has seen.
"Every year, there are many fond memories. But what stands out in my mind is in 2014 when Roger Federer lifted the trophy, and it was just a perfect event because he had five match points against him in the second round. Somehow he came back to win and Roger is a fan favorite here in Shanghai. People were in tears when he actually lifted the crown. He was close to a defeat. I think that's something which really impacted the tournament and me," mentioned Luevano.
The tournament director, however, added, "There is always work to be done. I think we have certainly played a significant role in educating the public and creating an opportunity from top down because this is a very high level event to showcase the best tennis players in the world on an annual basis."
Luevano also stated that, "A Chinese doubles team won the challenger event this year. So we are doing our part on the up-and-coming players. We definitely have a historic record of helping Chinese tennis."
"This is a young sport. Here new superstars have been born and I think this is my third generation of stars to work with. So I hope that in my vision and dream I want to see a Chinese player playing deep in the tournament and holding the trophy."
