China women's volleyball team triumphed with a 3-0 victory over Thailand at the FIVB Women's Nations League in China's Macao SAR on Tuesday.

Team China had a dominant victory in three sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-9, to claim their first win in Macao.

Captain Zhu Ting scored two points in the first set before she was rotationally rested by coach Lang Ping. Then, Gong Xiangyu scored 13 points to earn the MVP title of the game.

The volleyball legend Lang, who is the first person to win Olympic gold medals both as a player and as a coach, appreciated her players at a press meeting after the match. "This is the first match since the return of most of our key players and they have all put in a great effort today. I feel our players need further improvements on team tactics and this match will serve as a good platform for building team chemistry and understanding."

"I am very happy with the win today. We played well as a team and were able to show the results of our hard work at practice. I hope we can further raise our standards in the next two matches," said captain Zhu Ting.

Speaking of the match against the hosts, Thailand's coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul believed they had fully expected this match would be tough, and as the match went on, they could "no longer cope with China's powerful serves."

Previously at the Nations League's Brasilia stop between May 21 and 23, China defeated Dominican Republic 3-1, but they lost 0-3 against Brazil and had a 1-3 defeat against Russia.

The tournament consists of a round-robin format with every core team hosting a pool at least once. The final round of games will be held in Nanjing, east China, from July 3 to 7.
