The contradictions and shortcomings of Chinese military forces over CPC leadership and Party building must be addressed with great efforts in order to meet the Party’s goal of building a powerful military in the new era, he added.
Noting that strengthening CPC leadership and Party building in the military is a requisite for advancing the "great new project" of the building of a strong country with a strong military, Xi said the military should comprehensively implement the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress.
Talent resources
During the meeting, Xi also pointed out that talents are the significant strategic resources for strengthening and forging the army.
He called for efforts to perfect the construction of a new-type military personnel training system, which combines institutional education, unit training, and military professional education, so as to pool more talented people and cultivate more personnel who can meet the demands of the development of the Chinese army.

It is necessary to promote the talent training in the fields of strategy and direction, new type combat forces, high-level technological innovations, and high-level strategic management.
He also urged for the improvement of relevant supporting policies and strengthening of the construction of civilian personnel.
Struggle against corruption
Cracking down on corruption must be unswervingly grasped without any shifts, Xi said, adding that people who take bribes should be investigated and punished the same as those who provide bribes.
We must persist in zero tolerance for corruption, improve the restriction and supervision system of power operation and strengthen political culture construction within the Party, he added.
