The European Space Agency (ESA) is using observation satellites to monitor the Earth’s atmosphere and measure deadly air pollutants. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nine out of 10 people breathe air containing high levels of pollutants. Seven million deaths are caused by outdoor or household air pollution annually. WHO says fine particles in polluted air penetrate deep into the lungs and cardiovascular system.
