Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman scored an extra-time winner to give the team a nervous 3-2 victory over Hertha Berlin on Wednesday and a spot in the German Cup quarter-finals as the Bavarians bounced back from their weekend league loss.
The French winger, surrounded by three Hertha players, headed in from close range in the 98th minute, handing victory to Bayern who had dominated the encounter with 75 percent possession but somehow failed to win in normal time.
Hertha took a third-minute lead with their first effort on goal through Maximilian Mittelstadt, but Serge Gnabry fired in the equalizer four minutes later and then scored again four minutes after the break to put the Bayern ahead.

Yet a blunder by defender Mats Hummels, who headed the ball into the path of substitute Davie Selke, allowed Hertha to equalize with only their second shot on goal.
Coman then came to the rescue in the first half of extra time to save Bayern's blushes.
The Bavarians, who lost 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday to drop to third in the Bundesliga, also play Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 later this month.
Elsewhere, Dortmund were knocked out of the German Cup on Tuesday, losing on penalties to Werder Bremen.
