1 / 4   Have you ever seen a spider wearing colorful stockings? If not, you have an opportunity now to experience “Maman” transformed with an explosion of colors. Created by French-born American artist Louise Bourgeois, the spider-shaped bronze sculpture in front of the Mori Tower at Tokyo's Roppongi Hills has been wrapped with knitted fabric by American textile artist Magda Sayeg since Tuesday. /VCG Photo

2 / 4   “Maman” is a French word for mummy. The creator’s mother was repairing tapestry for living, therefore the metaphors for spider weaving and nurturing are merited. /VCG Photo

3 / 4   The spider is not the only one of its kind. The original is in the Tate Modern in London, and other five casts are in Canada, South Korea, Spain, US and Qatar. All of them are close to 10 meters in all dimensions. /VCG Photo

4 / 4   The colorful makeover is a part of the Roppongi Hills 15th Anniversary celebrations, being even more special as Magda Sayeg had never displayed her art in any Asian country before. /VCG Photo
