Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, met with Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on Monday in Shanghai. Peng said that the Gates Foundation has been productive in HIV/AIDS prevention and control, poverty alleviation, and global health capacity building, through cooperation with relevant Chinese departments. Gates spoke highly of China’s achievements in poverty reduction and its contribution to the promotion of world health.
