At least 18 civilians were killed and 45 others injured in a suicide bomb blast in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, Afghanistan's TOLO news reported citing Najibullah Kamawal, head of Nangarhar’s health department.

The explosion occurred shortly after 3pm local time when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to the governor’s compound in Jalalabad city in eastern Nangarhar province.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
