Wetlands staff have been feeding hundreds of wild ruddy shelducks in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region this week, to help them survive the cold and snowy winter. Staff at the Wuliangsu Lake Wetlands feed the ducks corn every day to ensure they're eating enough to stay healthy. Ruddy shelducks mostly inhabit inland water-bodies such as lakes, reservoirs, and rivers. It is a second-level national protected animal in China.
