Quantum communication is important for enhancing the country's competitiveness and information security, Pan Jianwei, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said at a press conference in Beijing on Sunday.
Pan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also known as the "father of quantum," made the remarks while answering a question from a CGTN reporter on China's quantum satellite "Mozi" and the development of quantum communication.
Quantum communication can be applied widely in fields such as national defense, government affairs, finance and energy, Pan said, adding that the public needs to know more about this technology.
