The "Experience Macao-Portugal" promotion event, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), kicked off in the Portuguese capital city of Lisbon on Tuesday night, the MGTO said in a press release.
The event includes a series of activities, such as exhibitions, dances, and gastronomy displays, to showcase Macao's unique tourism and culture, as this year marks the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal.
It was a significant opportunity for Macao and Portugal to enhance their strong friendly relations while boosting tourism ties, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government Alexis Tam said at the opening ceremony.
A video mapping show at Lisbon's main square was unveiled Tuesday night, depicting the Macao SAR's history, its links to Portugal, as well as its recent development.
The event kicked off on the eve of the opening of Lisbon Travel Market, with a string of Macao-themed activities conducted this week in Lisbon and Porto, along with other performances in pedestrian streets and plazas by Macao street dance groups.
