China's Blue Team opens with huge win over Angola

China’s Blue Team thrashed Angola 96-62 in the Meihekou International Championship. This is the second win for PRC over the Africans after China’s Red team defeated Angola last week in Kunshan International Championship.

Zhou Peng got the night off and had the opportunity to watch his teammates score.

Ren Junfei connected with a trey from the corner to lead the way for Team Blue. The Guangdong Southern Tiger was on his way to 13 points, but had to leave later in the first quarter after a misplaced elbow.

Angola's Yannick Moreira ran over to apologize, while China's medics stemed the bleeding on the bench.

The hosts built on their lead as the first quarter continued, with Wu Qian connecting from the other corner.

The Blue Boys kept finding space to shoot as Hu Mingxuan scored to make the lead with nine points.

After half-time Wu drilled another trey. The Zhejiang Golden Bull was en route to a game high of 26 points.

The home side then continued to fire away in the fourth, as three of Zhou Zhandong's 10 points extended the Chinese edge to 31.

China Blue won with 34 ending the match on a high note.

“It was very difficult for our Blue Team because many players were injured during previous warm-up contests. Under this circumstance, three new players were called in for this game.” Says Blue Squad head coach Dufeng.

“We played pretty well in this game, and young players contributed a lot, I hope they can perform even better in the following games.” Du added.

The Blue Team will face Ukraine later on Saturday.
