In the Chinese F.A. Cup, Jiangsu Suning were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Guangzhou R&F in the first leg of their quarter-final on Sunday.
Lining up for the visitors was Serbian defender Dusko Tosic, who played in two of his country's World Cup games, as they were eliminated in the first round, which gave him the chance to make his debut in China.
Five minutes after the kick off, Jiangsu thought they had taken the lead when Alex Teixeria's shot from inside the box looped in, only for the goal to be ruled out for offsides. Three minutes later, Lu Lin nearly opened the scoring for the visitors, but his effort deflected off Zhou Yun before hitting the bar.
Both sides failed to create any significant opportunities in the second half. Eran Zahavi nearly nicked it for Guangzhou in the stoppage time with his free-kick before it rebounded off the woodwork as the match ended in a dull draw.

Guizhou Hengfeng held by Shandong

Elsewhere in the Cup, Guizhou Hengfeng nearly took the lead at home against Shandong Luneng but Dai Lin makes a goal line clearance to deny Bubacarr Trawally in the 38th minute. With 20 minutes remaining, Mario Suarez tried his best to do better with a headed effort. In the 80th minute, Jin Daojing is judged to be tripped in the area by Min Junlin, and the referee points to the spot.
Further inspection from the VAR showed no contact was made, and the man in black overturned the decision. The final score line turned out to be 0-0.
