The head coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Thomas Tuchel has lambasted his side's star player and Brazil international Neymar for hitting a fan who insulted his teammates as they filed up to collect their French Cup losers' medals.
A 28-year-old delivery driver from Nantes was filming the PSG players and was making abusive comments about the PSG players when an angry Neymar grabbed the fan's mobile-holding hand and shoved it towards his face.
Coming down heavily on Neymar, Tuchel condemned the act saying, “I don't like it. You can't do that, you just can't do that.”
Incidentally, the incident was caught on video by fans at the Stade de France.
Earlier, on Saturday, PSG threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Rennes before losing the penalty shootout 6-5 after extra time in the French Cup final.
"It's not easy to go up the steps after a defeat. It's very difficult for me, for everybody, but we have to accept it," Tuchel added.
Expressing his displeasure, he said, "If we lose, we have to show respect. You can't get into a fight with a spectator."
Interestingly, the blow continued a bad-tempered end to the evening for the Paris-based club as Neymar's strike partner and French sensational Kylian Mbappe was red carded for a dreadful tackle with two minutes left in extra time.
The defeat also brought an end to PSG's uninterrupted four-year reign in the French Cup. They, however, have retained the French Ligue 1 title.
Meanwhile, in order to plead innocence, Neymar asked in an Instagram post, "Did I act badly? Yes. But no one can stay indifferent."
The talismanic Brazilian is now awaiting punishment from France's football authorities to go along with the three-match ban UEFA slapped him with on Friday for his foul-mouthed tirade following PSG's defeat to the Red Devils.
