An Iranian Boeing 707 cargo plane, coming from Kyrgyzstan, crashed on Monday while trying to land west of Iran's capital Tehran, state media reported.
A flight engineer was known to be the sole survivor among 16 people who were on board at the time of the accident.
The aircraft skidded off the runway after it mistakenly landed at the Fath Airport, near Karaj in the central Iranian province of Alborz. It then crashed into a wall separating the airfield from a residential complex, Iranian state-owned news agency Islamic Republic News Agency reported, citing an official with the Iran Civil Aviation Organization.
Currently, there's no information related to casualties in the residential area. An investigation into the tragic incident is underway.
