Kyrgyzstan's former Chief of Staff in the President's Office, Mukhammedkaliy Abylgaziyev, was named the new prime minister by parliament on Friday, following the fall of the previous government due to a no-trust vote on April 19.
President Sooronbai Jeenbekov, who sacked the Sapar Isakov government after parliament passed a non-confidence vote, signed a decree Friday to appoint the new prime minister and cabinet members.
Earlier in the day, lawmakers overwhelmingly voted to approve Abylgaziyev as the 30th prime minister of the country. The 50-year-old's cabinet has also been approved.
The April 19 no-trust vote was the first in Kyrgyzstan's history.
