Thierry Henry made his Ligue 1 coaching debut when he led Monaco in a game against Strasbourg on Saturday.
In the 17th minute, Adrien Thomasson's header gave Strasbourg a 1-0 lead. In the 67th minute, Monaco were reduced to 10 men due to Samuel Grandsir received a straight red for a dangerous challenge on Anthony Goncalves, and with six minutes remaining, Lebo Mothiba's goal doubled the host's advantage. Youri Tielemans pulled a consolation goal back for Monaco from the penalty spot in stoppage time, but it stayed at 2-1.

"It was weird," said Henry. "There were two, three times, where I thought we had scored, but we didn't. You think you've scored, then you concede a goal on the other side, it's dejecting. I lived a little of everything in this match and first defeat, but again I want to come back on what we did well, to stay positive. Of course, we'll have to talk about what went wrong, but we created opportunities. Already that's a positive point."
In other matches, Caen and Guingamp ended 0-0, Lille beat Dijon 2-1, Reims drew 1-1 with Angers, while Nantes crushed Toulouse 4-0 thanks to Emiliano Sala's hat trick.
