A white-naped crane was sent back to nature on Heixiazi Island in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province after being found with injured legs by a border police officer last year. White-naped cranes are listed as a class II protected animal in China, and have an estimated population between 6,250 and 6,750 worldwide.
