The IAAF on Wednesday released the participant list for the 2019 IAAF World Relays in Yokohama, Japan, between May 11 and 12. China's Su Bingtian and Xie Zhenye, two of the country's best sprinters, will join hands again in the men's 4 x 100-meter relays.

The last time Su and Xie competed together in relays happened at the 2017 National Games of China in Tianjin, which was 20 months ago. This time in Yokohama, they will be joined by Jiang Hengnan, Liang Jinsheng, Wu Zhiqiang and Xu Zhouzheng.

In 2018, Xie finished 100 meters within 10 seconds twice while Su did it three times, including tying the Asian record of 9.91 seconds twice. At the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, Wu won the bronze medal of men's 100m sprinting with 10.18 seconds, becoming the third Chinese sprinter to finish 100 meters within 10.20 seconds.

These three, plus Xu whose personal best was 10.21 seconds last year, are hopeful in performing better than in 2017. Two years ago at the last IAAF World Relays in Nassau, the Bahamas, Su, Xie, Liang and Tang Xingqiang finished the men's 4 x 100m at 39.22 seconds, winning the bronze.

In Nassau in 2017, Wei, Liang, Yuan and Tao Yujia finished the women's final with 43.11 seconds, bringing home the bronze medal. Wei in 2018 finished the 100m event with 10.99 seconds, the best Asian personal record for women in almost 20 years.

As the host to the 2019 IAAF World Relays, Japan will send Yoshihide Kiryū, Yuki Koike, Daisuke Miyamoto, Kirara Shiraishi, Shuhei Tada and Ryota Yamagata for the men's 4 x 100m relays. Yamagata won the gold medal in the men's 100m sprinting at the 2018 Asian Games by finishing at 10.00 seconds. Kiryū won the title of the men's 100m with 10.10 seconds at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships.
