China sends deep sympathy to the Philippines over the casualties caused by super typhoon Mangkhut, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Sunday.
Dozens have died and property damage was reported in the northern Philippines.
Geng emphasized that China believes that under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte and his government, the Philippine people will be able to deal with the human and property losses in a proper way and return to a normal life as soon as possible.
China will try its best to provide aid to its neighbor as quickly as possible, he added.
Geng also briefed the press on Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi's scheduled visit to the Philippines from Sept. 16 to 17, saying it has been postponed until new dates are agreed upon by both sides.
Mangkhut made landfall in the northern Philippines on Saturday, wreaking havoc with strong winds and rain and causing floods and landslides, before leaving for southern China later the same day.
