Alex Teixeira and Eder Martins scored two goals apiece as Jiangsu Suning handed Guangzhou R&F a 5-1 thrashing on Sunday to move up to fourth in the Chinese Super League (CSL) standings.
Cosmin Olaroiu's side secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season and are now six points behind leaders Beijing Guoan after the first six games of the campaign.
Martins put Jiangsu in front with just three minutes on the clock and after Dusko Tosic headed R&F level, Teixeira's double before the half-hour mark put Olaroiu's team in control.
Further goals from Martins and Xie Pengfei in the second half sealed the win for the Nanjing-based club while Dragan Stojkovic's side dropped to 12th in the 16-team standings.
"I think it's one of the best games I have played in this year and I'm eager to win the Golden Boot, but the most important thing for me is to help our team to win," Teixeira said.
Jiangsu moved ahead of fifth-placed Chongqing Siwei, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Dalian Yifang, while Wuhan Zall and Shanghai Shenhua also drew 1-1.
Dalian's Belgian international Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco made aggressive moves from the start of the game, posing threats to goalkeeper Sui Weijie.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder fired his right-foot shot to break the deadlock in the 68th minute, scoring their first goal at home of the season.
Ten minutes later, Polish midfielder Adrian Mierzejewski hit his left-wing cross to the hand of Zhao Mingjian, resulting in a penalty which Fernando Henrique Da Conceicao converted for Chongqing.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria international Odion Ighalo continued to score his sixth goal of the season for the Shanghai Shenhua to avoid a second consecutive loss.
The draw saw Shanghai Shenhua climb to the ninth spot on the table with seven points from six games.
