An estimated 68.2 million passengers are expected to travel by trains from April 30 to May 4, showing a year-on-year growth of 10.9 percent, according to China Railway (CR).
With the rapid development of the country's railway system, an increasing number of cities across the nation now have access to high-speed railways.
Recently, the introduction of an extended four-day May Day holiday has encouraged more people to plan domestic and overseas trips in advance.

In order to optimize the travel experience, 539 pairs of bullet trains and 156.5 pairs of regular ones will be added during the holiday to satisfy passengers' needs, according to CR.
Also, better service will be provided in terms of catering, cleaning, and water supply, together with special care dedicated to the old, young, sick, pregnant and disabled.
As the train tickets can be booked one month in advance, tickets for April 30, May 1 and 2 can now be purchased. There are three ways to buy tickets: visiting the official online ticketing website 12306.cn, through the app or phoning 95105105.
As shown from the ticketing website, some of the lines to popular destinations, such as Wuhan, Xi'an and Chengdu, are already sold out.
