The female cub was born at 8:20 a.m. and weighs 135.3 grams, while her younger brother came nine minutes later and weighs 148.8 grams.
According to the base, the 8-year-old mother, Ya Yun, began to lose appetite on May 3, which was a sign that she was about to go into labor. She did so at about 3 a.m.
“Ya Yun showed a strong maternal instinct soon after her babies were born. She was able to hold the cubs quickly and licked them repeatedly,” a staff member of the base told CGTN.

Ya Yun was born on Sept. 10, 2010. She is the youngest child of Ya Ya, who was called “Princess of Asian Games” as she was born on the day of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Asian Games in 1990. Ya Ya is the elder sister of the world’s first panda twins through artificial reproduction.
