An unidentified layer of foam appeared on the Qiantang River, covering an area of about 800 square meters in Hangzhou City, east China’s Zhejiang Province on Wednesday. The mysterious substance was an environmentally friendly foaming agent used to lubricate a tunneling shield operating below the riverbed as a new subway line is being constructed.
