A driver in the western German town of Recklinghausen rammed a car into a crowd waiting at a bus stop, killing one and injuring several others on Thursday afternoon, Xinhua reports.

One woman has died, with nine others seriously injured, who have already been taken to the hospital.

The authorities say the accident could be a possible suicide attempt by the driver, though no cause has been confirmed.

The driver survived the crash and was released from the wrecked car by firefighters.
