Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is located in Zijin Mountain in the eastern suburb of Nanjing City, east China's Jiangsu Province, covering an area of 80,000 square meters. The mausoleum was built between 1926 and 1929.
A stairway made of Suzhou granite stretches from the Memorial Archway to the Memorial Hall, and is 480 meters long and 50 meters wide in 392 stairs.

Sun was born in 1866 and is known to the Chinese people as a "great revolutionary and statesman" for his leading role during the 1911 Revolution, which ended more than 2,000 years of feudal rule in China.
Sun died on March 12, 1925 in Beijing and has been buried in the mausoleum since June 1, 1929.
