Large streams of lava erupted from fissures below Leilani Estates on Hawaii's Big Island. Aerial images showed numerous fingers of fast-moving lava streams flowing downhill. A man was injured when "lava spatter" landed on him as he was sitting on a balcony. Local media reported there were concerns about it entering the ocean, and threatening to release toxic gases.
