Liu Shiying took the second place in the women's javelin throw event at IAAF Diamond League at Lausanne, Switzerland after her final throw sailed 64.46 meters at the Pontaise Olympic Stadium on Thursday.
Liu is the only Chinese entrant at the annual track and field competition this year.
She claimed gold at the Asian Athletics Championships in 2015 and her latest mark is just one hundredth of a meter shy of her personal best, 66.47 meters, which is the current continental record.
Nikola Ogrodnikova of the Czech Republic, who placed 19th at last year's World Championships and her previous personal best was 62.24 meters, easily surpassed that on the shores of Lake Geneva this time, topping the podium in the Swiss city.
