As Manchester City defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Wembley Stadium on Monday to regain first place in Premier League 2018-19 standings, the English top soccer league saw something new: After 10 games, three teams – Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea – all remained undefeated.
Both Man City and Liverpool have finished the 10 games with eight wins and two ties while the former leads with eight more goal differences. Chelsea is two points behind, thanks to one extra tie.
Points, even by one, matter when it is about the championship and so does goal difference. Soccer fans in Manchester should remember that back in the 2011-12 season, both Man U and Man City finished 38 games with 89 points before the latter won their first Premier League title thanks to their eight additional goals.

All games between two of the three teams ended with ties, hence the undefeated record. However, they will encounter tougher tests in the coming days. Liverpool will be challenging Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Under their new manager Unai Emery, Arsenal won 11 straight games and are totally capable of handing Liverpool their first loss.
On November 11, the first Manchester derby of the season will happen at the City of Manchester Stadium. Though today's Man City are the better team, it was at the same stadium in April 2017 when Man U ruined the home team's dream of taking the championship. It is foreseeable that Jose Mourinho and his Red Devils will not let Josep "Pep" Guardiola and his Man City get what they want easily.

Chelsea's easy schedule will end on November 24 when they challenge Hotspur in London derby after the international game day, which will definitely affect Chelsea that have multiple national players in their squad.
Unlike the FIFA World Cup, soccer leagues in Europe are all marathons that require consistently good performances. Again, in Premier League, even goal difference matters.
