The NBA informed its 30 teams of the salary cap and the luxury tax line for the next two seasons: respectively 109 million U.S. dollars and 132 million for the 2019-20 season; 116 million U.S. dollars and 141 million for the 2020-21 season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Compared with the league's projections in the 2018 off-season, the 2019-20 salary cap and tax line remains unchanged while the 2020-21 season ones were both about two million lower.
The NBA's salary cap for the 2018-19 season was 102 million U.S. dollars and the tax line was 124 million. Next season, the cap will grow by 13.7 percent and the tax line will grow by six percent, both reasonable levels.

The new salary cap also confirmed the limits for first-year salaries at different levels. Next season, players in the league for up to six years can receive up to 27.25 million U.S. dollars in the first year of their contract; players with 7-10 years of experience can make up to 32.70 million U.S. dollars; and players in the league more than 10 years can make up to 38.15 million U.S. dollars. These numbers are for the first year of a new contract, and doesn't apply to the subsequent years.
No extra clause was considered in the above estimated number.
As for general managers of the teams, they needed to start working on how much money they can have for which players, which will be a lot of work for teams with big plans these next two summers.
