If this was the dawn of a new era, then it can also be said that it marked the arrival of a Chinese star who could set Paris Saint Germain alight this season.
Wang Shuang, the French giants' summer signing, put a stamp on her Women's Champions League debut with another spectacular performance as PSG cruised to a 4-1 away win over Austrian side St. Polten on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old "wonder woman"
picked up where she left off last weekend, tirelessly running at the heart of opposition's defense and embracing a greater creative responsibility in a star-studded midfield.
PSG were in control from the first whistle and could have won by a bigger margin. Signe Bruun and Kadidiatou Diani gave the French Champions a commanding half-time lead, with Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Paulina Dudek adding further goals late in the game.

Wang dazzled with sparkling moves and piercing passes throughout the Champions League opener, sending Katoto clean through on goal in the 83rd minute. But the French striker wasted the glorious chance with a shot that sailed wide.
Dudek was the next recipient of Wang's impeccable assist and the Polish midfielder duly obliged and wrapped up the impressive victory by smashing home a left corner from Wang in the dying minutes of the game.
PSG should have no problems reaching the last 16 if Wang and Co. continue with such a convincing performance in the return leg on September 28.
