China and Cameroon have agreed to continuously keep high-level contact and maintain mutual support in major issues of concerns.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya reached the agreement during their meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday, ahead of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

China will continue to enhance cooperation with Cameroon under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the FOCAC, Xi said.

He also said that China will support Cameroon in enhancing its capacity to maintain peace and stability.

Biya said that Cameroon endorses the China proposed concepts: A community of shared future for mankind and the BRI.

The Cameroonian president also noted that FOCAC provides an important opportunity for the development of African countries and China.

Biya stressed that Cameroon is ready to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and African states.
