A self-taught artist, Ahmed Ragab, is attracting the attention of Egyptians on social media with his miniature portraits on pieces of chewing gum and pills.
By using a magnifying glass and a thin tip pencil to create the images, this Egyptian artist likes to work on miniature canvases, drawing pictures of celebrities on pieces of gum.
"I work with my father in a supermarket and I started drawing on different things. I had a pencil but could not find paper. I decided to draw on a piece of unchewed gum.” says Ahmed Ragab, “I drew an eye and it looked good. I decided to draw a whole portrait on the piece of chewing gum. I tried over and over until I mastered the process."
He also uses pumpkin seeds and pills as canvases.
Ahmed Ragab's work is becoming popular in Egypt and many enthusiasts now want to buy his art.
