Scientists establish sperm bank to save African penguins

A sperm bank for African penguins has been established in Cape Town in an attempt to keep them from going extinct. African penguins are the only penguin species listed as endangered. Some 50,000 breeding pairs remain from some five million 20 years ago. The bio bank is part of a study into the penguins' reproductive biology to secure the survival of the species through in-vitro fertilization.
