Illuminated on traditional vellum, the hand-written document carries the Queen’s signature on top and is ornate with emblems symbolizing the couple. /VCG Photo

Representing Prince Harry, the design to the left of the text incorporates the red dragon of Wales along with the UK’s floral emblems. As an emblem of the bride, the design to the right of the text includes the rose, the national flower of the United States, while two golden poppies are the state flower of California, where Markle was born. /VCG Photo

The Instrument of Consent is sealed with the Great Seal of the Realm which is attached to the foot of the document by woven cords. The royal document will be presented to the couple after their wedding on May 19 in Windsor. /VCG Photo
