Art exhibition in Portugal marks 20th anniversary of establishment of Macao SAR

About 30 paintings are on display at an art exhibition, which kicked off on Wednesday in Lisbon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
The exhibition is at the Macao Science and Culture Center (Museu do Centro Cientifico e Cultural de Macao) in Portugal's capital city.

Lu Xi, director of the Art Association of Macao, stressed at the opening ceremony that the exhibition showcases more than 30 pieces of traditional Chinese paintings and oil paintings created by the members of the association, which is the largest and oldest art group in Macao.
The exhibits features places of historic interest and scenic beauty across the city, and also include portraits of local people and famous figures.

2019 is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal, as well as the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Macao SAR.
"We hope to continue and deepen the hundred-year dialogue between Chinese and Portuguese people in culture and art," said Mu Xinxin, director of the Macao SAR Cultural Bureau.

Macao will be celebrating the anniversary with a series of events including the famous MATTA Fair, which is running from March 15 to 17.
And from June to September this year, Macao will host a series of large-scale international art events.
