Iceland managed to get away with a 1-1 draw against Argentina, one of the favorites to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup, in the first game of Group D at the Otkrytiye Arena in Moscow on Saturday.
Though the team conceded one goal to Sergio Agüero at the 19th minute, Alfred Finnbogason scored the country’s first World Cup goal only five minutes later. In the game's 63rd minute, Iceland’s goalkeeper Hannes Thór Halldórsson kept his team in the contest and preserved the historic score line by saving a penalty from Lionel Messi.
