Serbia is willing to take an active part in further advancing the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday. Vucic added that the country is looking to work together with China in new areas under the cooperation framework between Central and Eastern Europe and China.
The Serbian president made the remarks when meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He is now in China for the Summer Davos Forum, which takes place in north China's Tianjin Municipality from September 18 to 20.
President Xi said he is happy to see fruitful outcomes achieved by the two sides.
"China's Hebei Iron and Steel Group has worked well with Hesteel Serbia (a Serbian steel manufacturing company), with the latter becoming the second largest exporting corporation in Serbia," Xi said.
The Chinese president is calling for deepening cooperation so as to bring benefits to people on both sides.
In addition, he vows to work with Serbia, supporting each other's core interests and major concerns, and upholding multilateralism and internationalism.
A series of bilateral documents were signed after the meeting.
