The city of Sanya in south China's Hainan Province plans to launch 15 overseas flight routes in 2019 in a bid to receive 900,000 arrivals, according to Hainan Daily.
Hainan is an island destination with tropical weather and sandy beaches, and aviation accessibility has a major impact on its inbound tourism market.
Based on the existing 37 overseas routes, Sanya will focus on expanding routes to Europe, Oceania, the Americas and other international hub cities to improve the accessibility of international tourists.
In order to better its tourism service, Sanya will promote travel routes with different themes such as cultural trips, coastal holiday tours, rainforest explorations, family tours, water sports tours, and honeymoon tours to meet holiday makers' needs.

Sanya will also establish an "Inbound Tourists Visa-free Transfer Service Area" at its domestic airport, providing convenience for visitors from 59 nations.
In 2019, Sanya plans to organize 11 tourism exhibitions aiming to "go global" and invite 40 batches of media and travel agents to participate in its tourism activities.
The province is connected to 15 countries and regions via 34 direct international flight routes and three transit routes.
