Li Huali, an 80-year-old resident of Beijing, has lived at the nursing home for two years, since May 17, 2017.
The nursing home makes her feel safer and more comfortable.
"The elderly are gathering together as a community, reducing the feeling of lonesomeness," she said.
Li lives a very regular life at the nursing home, waking up between 06:00 to 6:30 a.m. every day. Various activities at the nursing home make her daily life worthwhile.
"Mondays for films, Tuesdays for calligraphy, and Wednesdays for singing. Well, every week is full of activities."
At the end of 2018, China had a population of 249 million aged 60 or above, making up 17.9 percent of the total population. An increasing number of Chinese senior citizens now choose to live in nursing homes rather than spend their remaining years with their offspring at home.
Li is fulfilled, and content with the current situation saying her retired life is happy, dignified, and meaningful.
