796 Chinese cultural relics returned from Italy are on display at the National Museum of China in Beijing from April 24 to June 30.
The relics arrived in Beijing at 6:54 a.m. at Beijing International Airport on April 10, 2019, ending their hundred-year time away from home. This is the largest transfer of Chinese cultural relics in the past 20 years.
"It is a milestone of China-Italy cooperation on cultural heritage and a new model of international cooperation for the repatriation of lost cultural items. China highly commends that," said Lu Kang, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, at a press conference the same day.
