China-U.S. relations
When asked about China-U.S. trade negotiations, Guo said that China welcomes the positive development of the bilateral trade consultations and the trade talks between the two sides have made progress in multiple areas.
"Maintaining the healthy and stable development of the Sino-U.S. relations accords with the fundamental interests of the two peoples and serves as the common expectation in the international community," noted Guo.

Belt and Road Initiative
"CPPCC attaches great importance to the construction for the Belt and Road. Over 100 countries and international organizations participated in the initiative by the end of 2018. The Belt and Road Initiative has been welcomed by the international community," said Guo.
Guo also reiterated China's stance on the Belt and Road Initiative, dismissing the claims that relevant countries may fall into a "debt trap" by China, saying it does not make any sense.
"China's investment projects mainly focused on infrastructure domains. It is good for the long-term development of these countries," said Guo.

China's image in the international community
When talking about China's image in the international community, Guo said misperceptions, such as the rumored "China threat theory," are caused by misunderstanding, misjudgment or a deliberate smear campaign by some with ulterior motives.
"Sometimes we're not doing enough to communicate with the world. China has been all along actively engaged in international communication in recent years, and our efforts have helped the world to better understand China and deepen the friendship and cooperation among peoples," Guo said.
China's medical and healthcare reform
"China's medical and healthcare reform is now entering a more challenging stage," according to the spokesperson. "The level of China's health services has yet to meet the growing needs of the people."
"CPPCC has continually attached great importance to the work of China's medical and healthcare reform, focusing on the crucial issues closely related to the Chinese people’s fundamental interests in order to carry out the medical innovation work actively,“ said Guo.
