China's Shi Yuqi got the better of India's Sameer Verma 2 games to 1 in the semi-finals of Badminton's World tour finals. The 22-year-old will now compete for the title against Japan's Kento Momota later on today.

In the first game, Verma called all the shots at the net before setting himself up for the smash to take a 7-6 lead.

The Indian was by far the better of the two in the opening stages and seals the first game 21-12 when Shi could only find the net.

But the second was tough, as Verma's unforced error gave the Chinese a chance to enlarge the score, 19-17.

Shi's nice service helped him win the second game 21-19 and forced a decider.

Verma tried to hold back in the third but he was unable to return a powerful forehand from his opponent and trailed 12-9.

Shi had match point and he sealed it 21-13 when Verma hit wide to book his place in the final against Momota.

In men's doubles, Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen were facing Chen Hungling and Wang Chilin from China Taipei, who led 4-1 after a rush-shot from their opponents.

Chen and Wang then went on to win the first game 21-18.

The reigning world champions battled back in the second and they took it 21-12 after a smash that forced the third contest.

At match point, Liu smash seemed too long, promoting a challenge from his opposite numbers. A replay proved that it was in and the Chinese mainland duo won 21-15 and will face Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanaba in the final.

In mixed doubles, Li Junhui and Du Yue were up against top seeds Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi from Japan. The Chinese duo led 10-5 after that drive.

But their opponents fought back in the middle of the first game and they went on to claim it 22-20.

In the second, Li left knee experienced some problems and the Chinese duo retired, so the Japanese pair will face Lee Sohee and Shin Seungchan in the final.
